Green Buildings Zero energy homes.

Buildings are often overlooked when people think of the impact on the environment. However, buildings directly account for over 30% of all CO2 emissions in the world. Norwegian company - Hydro - has come up with a concept for designing sustainable, low-carbon footprint buildings. Its possible to build zero energy homes which means the energy produced by them equals the energy consumed. A large multinational has built a library in Germany in 2003. As a result of clever use of already existing technology, they managed to save 50 % of the energy used to run a conventional building of the same size. Over the next decade the aim is to design and construct buildings that use zero energy and perhaps someday even produce more energy than they consume making them energy positive.
